I am a "cool" dad of four with two children still enrolled in the Osseo Area School District entering 4th and 6th grade. A resident of Brooklyn Park now 5 years and previous resident of Maple Grove, I absolutely love this area and the schools my family has had the privilege to attend. My children were all adopted through the foster care system at a wide range of ages, so I am deeply familiar with and grateful for our teachers and support staff. It takes a village to educate four kids and this district has been an essential component of that village.
Growing up in a family of 6, with one working parent on a modest income, education was everything and the only reason I am in a position to run for school board today. Attending a different school almost every year of my life as a student, I was a kid that would fit into that highly mobile category. It was teachers along the way, that in a very quick fashion, made an imprint and fueled me to continue forward in working toward some version of success. Our schools and community play a vital role in the success of our kids. I want Osseo Area Schools to be THE top choice for all families across the state. We have some racial equity work to do first, but we can get there.
I look forward to continuing the conversation and learning from staff and families in the district. I ask for your vote and support this November 2020 in the Osseo Area School Board - ISD 279 Special Election.
